Crown Prince Hassan: Jordanians, Palestinians should cooperation
Jordan-Palestine, Politics, 5/22/1998
Crown Prince Hassan of Jordan met with a delegation from the Palestinian Legislative Council currently visiting Jordan.
"Jordanians and Palestinians should work to increase cooperation and invest the vital ties that bind them," Hassan said during the meeting. He agreed on a common position regarding the challenges facing the two people.
Earlier, Jordan's Prime Minister Abdul Salam al-Majali said that Jordan is seeking methods to put an end to the current deadlock imposed on the Middle East peace process by the Israeli government.
Majali was speaking in a meeting with Palestinian Minister of Planning Nabil Shaath who has been holding talks in Amman over the last three days.
"The US remains committed to a plan aimed to energize the peace process," Shaath said, "to exercise pressure on Israel."
The Palestinian minister of planning noted that the pressure has failed to move Israel to accept the US plan. He said he hopes that Europe will support the US in pressing Israel to respond to peace requirements.
