1,200 U.S. soldiers participate in joint maneuvers with Kuwait

The U.S. started yesterday a process of deploying military forces in Kuwait and placing military equipment near the U.S. navy in Kuwait's El-Shoeibah harbor, within the American - Kuwaiti joint military maneuvers called "Intrinsic Action 98-2" which will last until the middle of August. U.S. Pentagon Deputy Spokesman Mike Doubleday said 1,200 U.S. army soldiers will participate in the maneuvers along with Kuwaiti troops
"to strengthen military-to-military relationships, improve readiness and interoperability between the United States and Kuwaiti armed forces, and to enhance U.S. military force capabilities to deploy quickly to the region and to provide continued U.S. ground presence in Kuwait."
