Saudi foreign minister in Iran to discuss Arab-Iranian problems

Saudi sources told ArabicNews.com that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud El-Faisel's visit to Iran starting next Tuesday will include discussions of the resolutions made at last year's Islamic summit in Tehran and the mediation between Iran and the United Arab Emirates in their dispute due to Iran's occupation of three Islands claimed by the U.A.E.

The sources added that the discussions will also focus on the mediation between Egypt and Iran and the risks that started to threaten the Islamic world after India's declaration that it possesses weapons of mass destruction because of India's proximity to Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

They will also discuss the Islamic world's accusation that Israel supports India in manufacturing nuclear weaponry.

Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, the Saudi defense minister, on Wednesday denied that there is any Saudi mediation between Iran and the U.S. He said that Saudi - Iranian relations are improving, adding that U.S. Vice-President Al Gore's visit to Saudi Arabia last did not include U.S. pressure concerning these relations.

The Saudi defense minister confirmed "the importance of lifting the imposed sanctions on Iraq as long as it (Iraq) implements the United Nations resolutions."
