Morocco-UK, Politics, 5/20/1998
British sources confirmed today that the British minister of state for foreign affairs, Derek Fatchett, who arrived yesterday in Morocco, will meet with the Moroccan monarch, King Hassan II.
The sources said that the meeting will tackle the developments of the crisis in the peace process, the European efforts to motivate the stumbled peace negotiations, the situation in North Africa, especially the escalation of the conflict over the Sahara desert and the relations among the Maghreb capitals.
Fatchett will also meet with Moroccan Prime Minister Abdul Rahman El-Youssefi and Minister of Interior Idris El-Basri.
This is Fatchett's first visit to Morocco since Britain's assumption the position of the European Union's presidency at the beginning of the current year.
