Algerian forces kill 26 Islamists

Algerian newspapers on Monday said that 26 Islamists and two civilians were killed within the few past days in Algeria near the borders with Morocco, where helicopters and tanks bombarded the armored Islamists.
The Algerian daily al-Khabar said that at least 15 Islamists were killed in an operation in Bani Sanous mountain near Telmesan, adjacent to the borders with Morocco.
Meanwhile, The Algerian criminal court in Telmesan province in its session today sentenced to death in absentia one person convicted of being a member of the Armed Islamic Group.
The court also sentenced several convicted persons to life in prison for giving aid to the armed groups.
