Sudan, Military, 5/19/1998
The official spokesman of the Sudanese armed forces lieutenant general Abdul Rahman Ser El-Khatem denied yesterday reports by the opposition about its attack on Shloub camp in eastern Sudan, confirming that there is calm in the area.
He also denied reports by British radio that Garang's forces (Sudanese People's Liberation Army) had seized five camps in the Blue Nile area and killed 200 Sudanese government soldiers.
Abdul Rahman Ser El-Khatem said, "The military operations that took place in the Blue Nile area are very limited and do not affect the general security conditions."
