European - Mediterranean meeting in Beirut

The Lebanese ministry resumed its preparations for the meeting that will be convened on May 29 in Beirut for foreign ministers of the Mediterranean countries concerned with the European - Mediterranean discussion, which will precede the Palermo meeting that will be convened in June to follow up on the Barcelona resolutions for the European - Mediterranean discussion.
Diplomatic sources in the Lebanese Foreign Ministry told ArabicNews.com that invitations were addressed to the foreign ministers of Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey, to the secretary-general of the Arab League Esmat Abdul Meguid, and Libyan and Mauritanian officials.
The sources added that the aim of the Beirut meeting is to prepare a joint work paper that supports the Lebanese situation concerning U.N. Security Council resolution 425, to implement it unconditionally, focusing on the peace process, the importance of reviving it on all tracks according to the Madrid terms of reference, especially the principle of land for peace.
The sources added that the Lebanese government will raise the issue of south Lebanon in the non-aligned movement's meeting on Tuesday in Colombia.
