Continued Israeli-Lebanese resistance confrontation in south Lebanon

The Israeli forces on Sunday bombarded the hills of al-Tuffah district in the areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon.

Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery shelled the course of Litani river, al-Rafai mountain and al-Salouki valley. The bombardment coincided with machine-gun fire and mock raids by Israeli warplanes flying at low altitudes.

The Israeli planes dropped thermal balloons whereas two Israeli jet fighters flew over Beirut and twice broke the sound barrier. On Saturday afternoon, clashes took place between a group of Lebanese resistance fighters and Israeli troops in the occupied strip of south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance said fighters attacked with missiles and machine-gun fire an Israeli foot patrol in Kassaret al-Aroush position. A number of Israeli soldiers were wounded.

Another Lebanese national resistance group attacked with missiles and machine gun fire another Israeli occupation position in Sujoud. Direct hits were scored, the statement added.

Later in the day, the Israeli occupation troops bombarded the hills and heights of al-Tuffah district adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli positions in al-Zaffata shelled the town of Sujoud, Aqmata orchard, al-Rafai' mountain, Litani river bed, al-Tassa spring-bed, the hills of Maletta, Lweza, Jabaa, al-Jarjou' and al-Rayhan heights.

The bombardment was accompanied by machine gun fire targeting the roads linking al-Tuffah district to the occupied strip of south Lebanon. Israeli war planes carried out mock raids at low altitudes over the western and central sectors, al-Nabatiyeh and al-Tuffah districts.
