Libya calls for boycott of Israel
Regional-Regional, Politics, 5/16/1998
The trusteeship of the general popular committee for unity in the Libyan republic called on Arab states yesterday to boycott Israel. The committee asked Arab states to take a united and firm Arab position to stop any form of normalization or communication with Israel.
The committee stated that, "The establishment of the Israeli entity on Palestine's territories first aimed at isolating the eastern Arabs from the western ones and to create a tool to achieve imperial interests in the Arab nation."
The committee added, "The continuation of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories is considered a deliberate rejection of the resolution issued by the U.N and the Security Council which emphasized Arab rights and incriminated and condemned the deliberate displacement of the Palestinian people and the legitimacy of their right to come back home."
