Egyptian workers discharged from Qatar to have their case resolved
Egypt-Qatar, Politics, 5/16/1998

An Egyptian official source in the Foreign Ministry confirmed today that the Qatari - Egyptian committee will hold a meeting in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss the entitlements of the Egyptian workers who were discharged at the end of last year during the tensions that prevailed in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a statement to ArabicNews.com, the source said that Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and his Qatari counterpart Hamad Bin Jabir have agreed to settle any disputes before convening the joint committee that will be convened "with their chairmanship" in Doha at the end of the current month.

Saudi Arabia paved the way to claiming the disputes between the two countries which arose when Egypt refused to attend the Qatar-hosted MENA economic conference, opposed by Egypt and Syria and boycotted by many regional states because of Israel's participation.

Meanwhile it was decided to convene the Egyptian - Saudi joint committee with the chairmanship of Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and his Saudi counterpart Saud al-Faisal in June after being delayed in April because of the two ministers' efforts in following up the stumbled peace process.
