Yemeni president says no to U.S. military facilities
Yemen-USA, Politics, 5/16/1998
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh confirmed on Friday his country's refusal to present military facilities to the U.S. adding that it will not be allowed to have Yemeni lands, or islands serve as military bases or facilities for foreign countries.
Saleh was responding to news reports indicating that Sanaa intends to present facilities to allow U.S. ships to anchor in the Island of Somatra in Aden Gulf.
Then Saleh announced that Yemen will establish a tourist project on the island.
