Regional-Egypt, Politics, 5/14/1998
Salah Tawfik, a deputy in the Egyptian parliament, presented yesterday a suggestion to Egyptian People's Assembly chairman Ahmed Fathi Serour for establishing a private parliamentary assembly that comprises the parliaments of member states in the group of 15 developing countries.
In his suggestion, Tawfik stated that establishing such a parliamentary assembly will contribute to supporting the resolutions and the agreements of the G-15 as well as forming popular support for these countries' approach.
He said this parliamentary assembly will convey the member nations' wishes to the G-15's government, including suggestions for convening parliamentary meetings of these countries coinciding with convening the government's meetings.
