Jerusalem mufti says Israel plans to demolish al-Aqsa mosque
Regional-Palestine, Religion, 5/14/1998
The Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Akrama Sabri said that Israel plans to demolish Al Aqsa mosque and rebuild on the same site the Jewish temple. In an interview with the Lebanese as-Sayyad magazine, Sheikh Akrama said the Jewish "Wailing Wall" is virtually "al-Buraq" Islamic holy wall where Prophet Muhammad arrived from a nocturnal Mecca - al-Aqsa trip. He added that al-Buraq is part of the Arab wall of al-Aqsa and entirely owned by Muslims.
Meanwhile, an arson attack last night on the Bab el-Maghanmeh entrance to Al Aqsa mosque damaged a door to the entrance, IRNA reported.
