Somalia reconciliation conference canceled
Somalia, Politics, 5/14/1998
According to a military faction in Makadishu the reconciliation conference scheduled to be convened tomorrow in Bedewa was canceled because of the lack of enough assets to organize it and because of continued confrontations among the warring factions.
Muhammad Ramadan Arbu, the official in charge of the information bureau in the national Somali National Salvation Bureau which comprises 26 Somali factions, said the conference will not take place and no measures will be taken later to organize the conference, "which has been waiting for a long time."
The Somali official added that this conference has been postponed three times before and postponing it for the fourth time means "obviously" that it has been canceled.
