Israeli raids kill 10 Palestinians in Bekaa
Lebanon-Regional, Military, 5/13/1998
Sources in a Lebanese hospital said today that ten Palestinian fighters were killed and another 22 injured, five seriously, in three Israeli raids on the Lebanese Bekaa.
The security sources said, "In the early morning today, the Israeli airplanes dropped bombs three times on a camp that is affiliated to the Fatah Uprising organization, 55 km East of Beirut."
The sources added that 13 fighters were slightly injured, and left the hospital after receiving first aid, while operations were performed on another five, who were seriously injured.
Meanwhile, fighting continued in other south Lebanon areas. Israeli warplanes on Tuesday carried out reconnaissance flights over south Lebanese areas and the Western Bekaa. Lebanese Security sources said the Israeli warplanes intensified their flights over Nabatieh, al-Tuffah district and Tyre.
Israeli occupation forces bombarded Zahrani river-bed and al-Rafai mountain in al-Tuffah district in south Lebanon. News reports from south Lebanon said the shelling caused material damage to plantings.
Further reports added that the April Understanding monitoring committee started its meeting on Tuesday at UNIFIL headquarters in the border town of Naqoura. Members of the five-party committee (representing France, the U.S., Syria, Israel and Lebanon) discussed three Lebanese complaints against Israel's bombardment of Lebanese civilians in the southern Lebanese towns of al-Mansouri, Yater, Qleileh, Kafer Tibnet and Jeba'.
The committee members also discussed two Israeli complaints on allegations that Lebanese resistance men fired shots against Israeli occupation troops from inside Jeba' and al-Mansouri.
