Meguid reaffirms anti-terrorist position to Algerian F.M.
Algeria-Regional, Politics, 5/13/1998

Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid met today with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, who is currently visiting Cairo.

In press statements, Attaf said he discussed with Abdul Meguid the recent developments in the Middle East, especially on the peace track, Israeli obstinacy within the peace process, and the Arab insistence on confronting any Israeli attempt to attain peace and seize lands.

He said he informed Abdul Meguid about the situation in Algeria and Algerian attempts to overcome terrorism and extremism.

Abdul Meguid informed Attaf about the Arab countries' and the A.L.'s support of the Algerian position towards the terrorists crisis.

Attaf renewed his countries' refusal of any attempt to deal with the Algerian crisis internationally and said that all that happens are internal matters, and no one has the right to interfere. "This is what Dr.Abdul Meguid has confirmed to me," Attaf said.
