Hughes company will implement Gulf radar net project

Member countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council agreed to implement two projects for the united radar net and secured communications.
In press statements today the Qatari general chief of staff Faleh El-Shati, the assistant secretary-general for military affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council, said that a contract concerning the secured communications project was signed with the Swedish Ericsson company, and the project has already started.
He added, "The contract for implementing the radar net project will be signed next month with the U.S. Hughes Electronics Company for more than $1 million."
