The U.S. House and Senate bills in their current form target U.S. aid currently provided to Egypt, and is meant to provide maximum pressure on Egypt in terms of policy, since Egypt is one focal point of Arab political strength and future economic force.

G-15 summit works begin today
The works of the eighth session of the Group of 15 developing nations, headed by Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak, started today in Cairo. In inaugurating it, President Mubarak said, "There are different challenges that face the countries' group, yet I am sure that we are able to rise with the nations."

Algeria intends to invest 22 billion dollars
An Algerian diplomatic source participating in the group of 15 summit in Egypt confirmed that Algeria intends to invest $22 billion for developing petroleum and gas industries and that Algeria seeks to share the foreign investment in that project, which will be the basis of its economy during five years between 1998 - 2002.

Israeli shelling damages school, homes in Kafer Tabnet
Israeli forces on Monday shelled an elementary school in Kafer Tabnet town in south Lebanon wounding a girl student. The Israeli attack also resulted in damage to a Lebanese citizen's house and the electrical grid in the town.

Seven prisoners will leave Kuwait soon

Syrian - European partnership talks start on Wednesday
European - Syrian official partnership talks will start in Brussels on Wednesday. An official Syrian source told a Monte Carlo radio correspondent in Damascus that these talks will mark official start of negotiations between Syria and the European Union following a lengthy preliminary talks lasted for more one year.
