Oman reduces customs on Arab commodities
Oman, Economics, 5/12/1998
The Omani News Agency said on Sunday that Oman decided to reduce by five percentits customs fees on commodities imported from Arab countries taking part in the plan to set up an Arab free trade zone.
The Omani national economy minister Ahmad Bin Abdul Nabi was quoted as saying that the decision provides for enforcing the reduction as from January 1998. Arab leaders agreed during their Cairo summit in June 1996 to set up a free trade Arab zone in the context of an ambitious plan "to establish a common Arab economic market."
