Bomb attackers captured in Jordan
Jordan, Local, 5/11/1998

One week after a series of minor bomb attacks that shocked part of the Jordanian capital, Amman, acting Minister of Information Naser Lawzi announced the capture of a group targeting Jordanian internal security and stability.

Initial investigations had indicated that foreign financing was behind the group.

"The group that comprises seven Jordanians and an Arab national were captured four days after their latest arson attack in the car park of Jerusalem Hotel last week," Lawzi told the reporters, adding that one member remains at large outside Jordan.

The aim of the group so far was to destabilize the security of Jordan, carry out these explosions in public places and security agencies and target security agents.

"We do not accuse any country at this time," Lawzi said. He ruled out any links between these arson attacks and other killings Amman witnessed in the last six months.
