Sudanese ambassador travels to Khartoum to enhance Egyptian - Sudanese relations
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 5/8/1998
Ambassador Ahmed Abdul Halim will head to Khartoum soon to consult with high-ranking officials in the Sudanese government about the method of enhancing the discussions between Cairo and Khartoum.
In press statements yesterday after his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Moussa and in the presence of ambassador Fuad Youssef, the chief of Sudanese management in the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Abdul Halim is seeking with every effort during his trip to Khartoum to achieve progress in the development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
He added that the two foreign ministers exchanged messages during the last few days, emphasizing that these massages tackled an important and eminent matter: enhancing the relations between Egypt and Sudan.
In comments to ArabicNews.com he said the Sudanese trend in relations is only a "tactical issue" and indicated that there seems to be no "real" intent for cooperation with Egypt with regard to the terrorists who made an attempt on President Mubarak's life in Ethiopia.
