Jordanian tourist shot by Israeli soldier

Israeli police said a Jordanian tourist, 27, was shot on Wednesday evening by an Israeli soldier. The incident took place in Bet-Zarzeer village in northern Israel.

The tourist was hit in his stomach and arm. He was taken to hospital where he underwent an operation, police said. Israeli police arrested the soldier and started investigations regarding the reasons behind the incident.

Police said the Jordanian tourist arrived in Israel two months ago, but did not unveil his identity. "He came to visit his relatives in the village," police said.
