King Hussein, Arafat hold telephone talks

Both King Hussein of Jordan and Palestinian President Yasser Arafat expressed hopes that peace talks in Washington next week will yield positive results that would bring about progress on the Palestinian - Israeli track of peace negotiations.

The two leaders discussed over the phone the results of Palestinian - Israeli talks held recently in London.

During the telephone conversation Arafat expressed his satisfaction with the U.S. commitment to maintaining its efforts to finalize tangible progress on the Palestinian-Israeli track.

Arafat also confirmed his acceptance of the U.S. proposals and the invitation to continue talks in Washington.

Jordan's King voiced support for the positive Palestinian position toward the U.S. proposals and his acceptance of the U.S. invitation to resume talks.
