Damascus to host Arab energy conference

The sixth Arab energy conference will be held in Damascus on May 10-13 under the title "Energy and Arab Cooperation."
The conference, which will be organized by OAPEC (Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries) in collaboration with the Syrian oil ministry, will discuss topics on energy conditions in Arab states, Arab cooperation in the field of energy, environment and its impact on development in the Arab states and energy resources and prospects for their development and preservation.
More than seventeen studies will be presented at the conference on oil and energy supply and demand. Arab oil and energy ministers, A.L. secretary general, secretaries-general of concerned Arab organizations and several board chairman of world oil companies will be taking part in the conference.
The first Arab emergency conference was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 1979, the second in Doha in 1982, the third in Algiers in 1985, the fourth in Baghdad in 1988 and the fifth in Cairo in 1994.
