Abdul Rahman's son accuses US of preventing his father from communicating
Egypt-USA, Politics, 5/2/1998

Abdullah Abdul Rahman, son of the Egyptian Islamic Group's leader, Sheikh Oman Abdul Rahman, said the U.S. authorities have prevented his father from phoning his family as a punishment for speaking with a number of his sons, violating the prison's orders which say Rahman can only speak with his wife.

Abdul Rahman said he when he tried to find out why his father stopped calling the family, his lawyer informed Abdul Rahman that the prison is punishing his father.

He added that the phone call from family members to their blind father was limited to the latter's health, and did not tackle any political matters.

Abdul Rahman expressed his fear that the punishment would include psychological pressure and torture against his father inside the prison, leading to the deterioration of his health, especially because he is a diabetic.
