Nouri: Iran wants foreign forces out of Gulf
Iran, Economics, 5/1/1998
Speaker of the Iranian Shoura council Nateq Nouri described the results of his visit to Oman and Kuwait as "very successful."
In a statement to reporters following his return to Tehran, he added, "We have discussed with the two countries' officials bilateral issues, and matters of mutual concern, especially those pertaining to the foreign presence in the Gulf region."
Nouri accused the US of continuously conspiring against Iran, stating that it "is a matter of distrust between the two countries." At a press conference he held on Wednesday in Tehran, Nouri added, "The US continues conspiracies against Iran," and said that his country has no confidence in Washington.
Nouri indicated that a big wall and an atmosphere of distrust prevent normalization of relations between the two countries, which have been halted since 1980.
