Gaddafi arrives in Chad

Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi arrived on Thursday in Njamina for a three-day official visit to Chad, accompanied by a huge delegation comprising hundreds of persons. Upon arriving at the airport he was welcomed by Chad President Idris Deby.
On Sunday, the Libyan leader will preside over the summit of the Sahara coastal states group, a regional organization including Chad, Libya, Niger, Nigeria, Mali and Burkina Faso.
Prior to convening the summit, Gaddafi will perform "al-Jamaa" (group) prayer on the first Friday of the new Hijra year in the presence of Deby and the presidents of another 11 African countries.
A few days earlier, Libya offered Chad equipment and a donation of US $1.5 million.
