Mubarak calls for united Arab stand to counter onslaughts

President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt asserted the need for maintaining Arab unity to confrontat onslaughts against Arab states.

In a speech he delivered on Thursday on the occasion of Egypt's celebration of May Day, the Egyptian President reiterated the stand advocated by Egypt and the Arabs providing for the establishment of just and comprehensive peace based on implementing U.N. resolutions and the land for peace principle.

President Mubarak stressed cohesion between the Syrian and Lebanese tracks in the peace talks, the importance of Israel's commitments to the requirements of just peace and resuming negotiations on the Syrian track from the point at which they broke off, and implementing UN resolution 425 providing for an unconditional withdrawal from south Lebanon.

The Egyptian President expressed hope that London peace talks on May, 4 will garner results in which the US initiative concerning negotiations on the Israeli - Palestinian track will be accepted.
