Yemeni-Ethiopian relations boosted
Yemen-Eritrea-Ethiopia, Politics, 4/30/1998

The Yemeni daily al-Wahda quoted the secretary of the foreign ministry for political affairs Ghalib Ali Gamil as saying that visits exchanged between Yemen and Eritrea have restored normalcy, noting that a detente in relations between the two Asmara and Sanaa will be announced after a verdict is taken over the possession of the disputed Hanish Islands.

Meanwhile, Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdul Karim al-Iryani started a three-day visit to Addis Ababa. Iryani, who carries a message from the Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh with confer with the Ethiopian Premier Meles Zanwai. Several agreements on economic and costume cooperation will be signed today between the two sides.

Diplomatic sources indicated that Yemen recently signed agreements with Djibouti, a matter that reflects its increasing interest in the African horn.
