Muslim Brothers leader opposes Arab agreement on terrorism
Regional-Egypt, Politics, 4/30/1998

The leader of the prohibited al-Akhwan al-Muslimin (Muslim Brothers) group in Egypt, Mostafa Mashour, criticized the Arab agreement for combating terrorism, signed by Arab justice and interior ministers last week.

Emphasizing that "Islam is the solution," he demanded that Arab countries address the reasons behind terrorism with the help of specialists, not merely by increasing the number of security men and procedures.

He also said that instructing individuals is the best way to put an end to terrorism, and said Islam with its instructions and advice is the main path for this reform.

He expressed his great sorrow over the extreme confinement on mosques and graves and the attraction for youths of art, football, dances and sex-full films.

He finished by saying that the spread of poverty and drugs is one of the main reasons behind the rise of terrorism and violence.
