King Hussein of Jordan said
Jordan-Regional-Denmark, Politics, 4/30/1998

King Hussein of Jordan said, "The stalled Middle East peace process is at a crossroads." He urged Israel to make concessions to break the deadlock.

The king made his remarks following talks with the Danish prime minister before ending his three-day visit to Denmark yesterday evening.

Jordan's King and Danish PM discussed regional issues. The two leaders focused on the need to end the suffering of the Iraqi people and consolidating bilateral relations and trade cooperation between Jordan and Denmark.

"Jordan wants to build on the good relations between Jordan and Denmark" Hussein said.

The Danish Prime Minister said, "The EU can play a major role in the Middle East peace process by trying to improve the quality of life of Palestinians.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting Jordan's King said," I hope to see progress in the peace talks during the upcoming meeting in London between the Israeli and the Palestinian leaders and the US Secretary of State." "Failure to move forward at the London talks would have serious consequences" he reiterated.

"It is important that all the existing agreements be respected and implemented so that the peace process will continue" the King said and warned that "the situation is grave" adding "We hope that the coming days will see some activities to revive the peace process" on the Israeli-Palestinian track.

King Hussein said that there has been the feeling of double standards so far as dealing with issues of the region saying while some got away with so much others pay dearly.

King Hussein left Denmark to start an officials visit to Tunisia for talks on the stalled peace process and bilateral relations between Jordan and Tunisia.
