Australian parliamentary delegation visits Egypt
Egypt-Australia, Politics, 4/29/1998

Fathi Serour, the head of the Egyptian People's Assembly (parliament), received an Australian parliamentary delegation headed by Peter Nugent from the ruling Liberal Party.

The meeting tackled the situation in the Middle East within the serious attempt to rescue the peace process. Serour stated that it is important to respect agreements ratified between the parties in the Middle East and said security is achieved by establishing a just, permanent and comprehensive peace in the region.

Mostafa Kamal Helmi, the head of the consultative council, also received the Australian parliamentary delegation, along with representatives of political parties in Egypt.

The discussion between the two parties tackled the development of political life in Egypt, the features of economic and social development plans and national projects underway in Egypt.

Moreover the discussions also addressed cooperation between Australian and Egypt.
