Five Israeli soldiers wounded in south Lebanon

A Lebanese security source on Monday announced that five Israeli soldiers were wounded, one of them seriously, when a bomb was exploded while they were on a patrol in south Lebanon. The soldiers were taken by helicopter to Israel for treatment.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said its forces observed the Israeli soldiers in the occupied area of al-Rahrah when they tried to approach the scene where the bomb exploded to evacuate the Israeli wounded. The statement noted that Lebanese resistance fighters immediately fired rockets and direct hits were observed.

Earlier, a resistance group attacked Israeli artillery positions in al-Dahera in the occupied part of south Lebanon.

Israeli artillery shelled on Monday populated areas in al-Botoum mountain, Zibqin and Yater. In a statement, the Lebanese national resistance stressed that it scored direct hits on the Israeli positions. Meanwhile, one Lebanese resistance group attacked the Israeli occupation position in Balat after Israeli forces fortified it.

Meanwhile, the intensive Israeli bombardment against al-Tuffah district damaged electricity grids in the whole area. Lebanese security news said the Israeli bombardment targeted Arabsalim highway.

On Monday evening, the Lebanese resistance fighters attacked with rockets and machine-gun fire an Israeli patrol advancing from Khalet Raj area towards al-Litani river. A number of soldiers were thought to be killed or wounded as while Israeli helicopters were seen evacuating some of the soldiers. Another resistance group attacked Israeli reinforcements advancing toward al-Qasir position with rockets and mortar fire.

An Israeli position at al-Salaa was also attacked. In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said that one of its groups attacked at 6:30 p.m. (Lebanon local time) two Israeli bulldozers and three vehicles which were making fortifications at Hola site, inflicting casualties.

The Israeli artillery on Monday morning shelled the towns adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon. The shelling resulted in damage to several houses in the towns of Yater and Kafra and a large part of the electrical grid. Over 150 shells fell on the targeted villages and towns, Lebanese security sources said, adding that the Israeli helicopters intensively flew over a number of areas in the south dropping smoke bombs.

Israeli reconnaissance planes also flew over the targeted areas while Israeli war planes carried out fake and provocative raids over the western and central sectors of south Lebanon. Later in the day, the Israeli artillery escalated its attacks on the areas adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon, shelling a number of villages and towns in the western and central sectors. The Israeli attacks were accompanied by intensive machine-gun fire targeting mountainous routes which link al-Tuffah district to the occupied part of south Lebanon.

Meantime, Israeli war planes carried out low-altitude flights over the western and central sectors and the area of al- Nabatiyeh and al-Tuffah districts. The Israeli planes were intercepted by Lebanese army and Lebanese resistance anti-aircraft fire.

In retaliation, the Lebanese national resistance men attacked an Israeli force on Shoumariyeh mountainous area in the occupied part of south Lebanon, wounding a number of the Israeli force elements. The resistance men also attacked the Israeli al-Radar position in the occupied part of south Lebanon inflicting direct hits.
