Israeli - Jordanian relations deteriorating
Jordan-Israel, Politics, 4/27/1998
The London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat, published on Sunday, reported that well-informed Jordanian sources noted that in recent weeks Jordanian-Israeli relations have witnessed notable tensions in light of Israeli practices aimed at foiling the peace process, especially on the Palestinian-Israeli track.
The sources in a statement said the tension in relations between Amman and Tel Aviv peaked last week, despite the meeting held between King Hussein of Jordan and Netanyahu in Eilat.
The paper reported the sources as saying that the message addressed by King Hussein to Netanyahu just one day after the meeting was evidence of the extent of the bitterness Jordan feels towards the policy pursued by Netanyahu's government and the dangers that might be caused by this policy.
