Morocco voices concern over situation in Africa
North Africa-Morocco-UN, Politics, 4/27/1998

During the U.N. Security Council's debate on the situation in Africa on Friday, Morocco voiced "deep" concerns over the deterioration of the situation in Africa.

Moroccan Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ahmed Snoussi, said that Morocco is deeply concerned over the worsening of the political and socio-economic situation in several regions of the continent.

He underlined Morocco's determination to back the efforts exerted to find adequate and lasting solutions to the crises shaking the continent and called on the industrialized countries to eliminate customs barriers to African products.

He also recalled Morocco's call to launch a Marshall Plan for the promotion of Africa and to intensify efforts to help African states develop their economies and consolidate their integration in the world market. Africa needs to be helped so that its children no longer resort to humiliating attempts and vain emigration, he said.
