Abdul Meguid visits Algeria and Morocco

The secretary-general of the Arab League, Esmat Abdul Meguid, will begin a five-day visit tomorrow to Algeria and Morocco, during which he will meet with Algerian President Liamine Zeroual to discuss recent developments of the situation in Algeria and the successes achieved by Algeria in combating terrorism and extremism.

Zeroual and Meguid will discuss Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's call for convening an Arab summit to discuss the peace process, the situation in the occupied territories, and the recent Arab regional developments, including the Iraqi crisis with the United Nations, the Libyan Lockerbie crisis, the situation in Somalia and the possibility of success of a conference in the coming month for Somali reconciliation.

Abdul Meguid will discuss the same issues when will leave Algeria for a two-day formal visit to Morocco, during which he will meet with King Hassan II, Prime Minister Abdul Rahman El-Youssefi and Foreign Minister Abdul Latif al-Filal.
