Arab League approves conference for Somali reconciliation

The secretary-general of the Arab League, Esmat Abdel Meguid authorized the Arab League to host a coordinating conference to be attended by representatives of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Organization of African unity, Arab League, United Nations and the European Union to develop a united position for supporting Somali reconciliation efforts.
Meguid met yesterday with David Stein, the UN secretary general's envoy to Somalia, to discussed the attendance of Somalia's neighboring countries.
