Lebanese President confers with Kuwaiti Parliament speaker
Lebanon-Kuwait, Politics, 4/24/1998

Lebanese President Elias Hrawi on Thursday at Baabda Presidential Palace in Beirut received chairman of the Kuwaiti Ummah (nation) assembly Ahmad Abdul Aziz al-Sadoun. Talks dealt with bilateral relations, and the situation in the region following Israeli proposals on UN resolution 425.

Following the meeting, al-Sadoun said he discussed with President Hrawi the Israeli withdrawl proposals. He demanded Israel withdraw according to UN resolutions.

"We can call for an emergency session of the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union in Lebanon or in any other place to voice our solidarity and political and moral support for the Lebanese stand as well as to send a clear message to Israel that all Arab people are with Lebanon.," Sadoun said after meeting with Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri.

He continued, saying that such an emergency meeting may be held to announce a position towards Israel and to announce the position advocated by Syria and Lebanon in that the peace process should be integrated.
