Pan-Arab solidarity with Lebanon
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 4/23/1998

Lebanese President Elias Hrawi on Tuesday received at Baabda palace a delegation comprising a number of foreign, Arab and Lebanese figures, participants in the international press seminar in solidarity with Lebanon currently underway in Beirut to mark the second anniversary of Qana massacre committed by the Israeli occupation forces.

Talks dealt with the roles of the Lebanese, Arab and world press in support of south Lebanon and the western Bekaa. Arab League assistant secretary-general Ahmad Bin Hala, who is participating in the symposium, pointed out that the symposium is an expression of Arab solidarity and a united Arab stand.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Defense Minister Mohsin Dalloul said that Israel seeks from its latest moves to instigate a Lebanese internal crisis as well as to weaken Syrian - Lebanese fraternal ties. In a press conference he held in the Bekaa valley on Tuesday, Dalloul said the Israeli occupation has launched a political and diplomatic media campaign on resolution 425 and its gradual withdrawal.

By all that, he said, Israel attempts to impose security and non-security provisions on Lebanon. He asserted that Israel has lost all hope of subjugating Lebanon militarily or of isolating the resistance and undermining its military structure.
