Hariri: Egypt shares Lebanon's views on Israeli withdrawal
Lebanon-Egypt, Politics, 4/21/1998

Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri today stressed that the Lebanese position is clear towards the Israeli proposal providing for conditional withdrawal from south Lebanon. "We have repeatedly stressed, we are for full and unconditional Israeli withdrawal as stated in 425," he said.

In a statement following his meeting today with President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, Hariri added that President Mubarak's position agrees with the position adopted by Lebanon to this end and supports it.

He stressed that Syria and Lebanon are ready to resume the peace process from the point at which it broke off, noting that Syria and Lebanon are also in favor of ending the state of war, and with achieving just and comprehensive peace, if Israel is ready for that.

The Lebanese Premier called on the US to work seriously to give the Middle East peace process a push forward for the interest of the countries of the whole region, including Israel, adding that earlier in the day, President Mubarak received Hariri who arrived in Cairo on Tuesday. Egypt's Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri also attended the meeting.
