Habesh asks Arafat, Yassin to stop deteriorating relations
Palestine, Politics, 4/21/1998

The secretary-general of the Public Front for Liberating Palestine, George Habesh, asked Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Hamas' Sheikh Ahmed Yassin to stop the deterioration in relations between them and not to slip into a civil war, which would be disastrous on the Palestinian people, both in the present and in the future.

He said the one who benefits from the crime of killing Mohyiddin al-Sharif and from the current tensions between the Palestinian Government and Hamas is Israel.

He also said in order to achieve reconciliation, it is a must to release the political detainees in the Palestinian government's prisons, especially the detainees in Sharif's case, and to form an independent legal front under which the suspects will be at its disposal.
