Two ministers from South Africa meet with Hamas leader
Palestine-Qatar-South Africa, Politics, 4/21/1998

South African Minister of Justice Dullah Omar and Minister of Constitutional Affairs Mohammed Valli Moosa met with Palestinian Hamas movement leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin while performing the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

Palestinian diplomatic sources told ArabicNews.com that the importance of the meeting lies in the effective role that could be played by South Africa in developing the Palestinians' trust in the Israelis in a settlement to reach comprehensive and the just peace.

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin is expected to arrive on Wednesday in Qatar for a visit that will last a few days.

Sheikh Yassin will be received by Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the Foreign Minister Hamad Bin Jasem.

It is also expected that the Qatari leaders will ask Sheikh Yassin to calm the leadership in Hamas in order to avoid a civil war between Hamas and the Palestinian government.
