The man who changed the world visits Jordan

King Hussein of Jordan received ex-president of Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev who is on a visit to Jordan. The king awarded Mr. Gorbachev Jordan's al-Nahdha medal.

Gorbachev was invited to visit Jordan by the UN University, International Leadership Academy, to deliver a number of lectures.

Earlier in morning, the ex-president of Soviet Union delivered a lecture at Jordanian Institute of Diplomacy. At the lecture Gorbachev warned against using force to solve problems between countries.

Queen Noor of Jordan described Gorbachev as a leader who supports promotion of peace and democracy, "President Gorbachev has changed the economic and the social map of the world." Queen Noor said, "President Gorbachev as you all know, was a 1990 Nobel Price winner."

In his lecture, Gorbachev addressed the challenges that are expected to face humanity in the 21st century. He urged world decision makers to have long-term visions in mind as the world is becoming increasingly interdependent.

He noted that the world community is in need of promising leaders able to bring peace to the world.
