Sudan postpones referendum on constitution

Chairman of the constitutional referendum's organizing committee in Sudan, Abdul Menem al-Nahas, today said the referendum on the new Sudanese constitution will be postponed for one week until May 1-20 to pave the way for orienting citizens to take part in the poll.
The Sudanese news agency quoted al-Nahas as saying that the referendum's results will be announced during the last week of May.
Meanwhile, Sudanese vice- President Ali Othman Muhammad Taha said the cost of the Referendum is estimated at US $1.1 million. Some 10 million electors over 18-years old have been so far registered on voting lists.
