South Lebanon Army soldier killed near Jezzine
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 4/17/1998

Israeli forces on Thursday continued attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon.

Lebanese security sources said that Israeli artillery on Thursday morning bombarded al-Tuffah district's heights, especially Safi and al-Rafai mountains, al-Tase spring bed and Sujud al-Rayhan woods.

Meanwhile an Israeli military spokesman on Thursday said one pro-Israel Lahd militia element was killed in fighting on Thursday in south Lebanon. Israeli army radio said an explosive charge was detonated in the military vehicle, which was driven by the soldier in Lebanon's Jezzine district.

The report added that the militia units were put in alert, whereas inspection operations were carried out for similar explosives that might be planted in the district.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, the Lebanese national resistance attacked Israeli forces at al-Debshe position with rockets and machine-guns fires.

In a statement released on Thursday, the resistance said the attack scored direct hits in the enemy position in which several casualties were recorded and several fortifications destroyed.
