King is serious about improving Aqaba port
Jordan, Economics, 4/17/1998

Jordan's King Hussein yesterday headed a four-hour joint meeting of the Jordanian Cabinet and the Administration Council of the Aqaba Regional Authority in Aqaba port.

Referring to the importance of the sole Jordanian seaport, the king stressed the necessity of scientific plans to improve the situation in the port in all aspects.

The king stated that even his house in the port city is not going to be an obstacle in the way of developing Aqaba and its seashores.

The king stressed that urgent measures should be taken quickly to keep the environment clean, particularly in the area of Rum.

Minister of Informationa Abdallah El-Nesour said the Aqaba free zone will be more than a place for storing goods and said it will be a real free zone, as it will include a bank system, schools, factories and a harbor.
