Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 4/16/1998
Lebanese governmental sources said today that a Syrian - Lebanese diplomatic move to counter the conditional Israeli proposal for implementaion of UN Security Council resolution 425 will be the aim of talks between Lebanese Premier Rafik Hariri and Foreign Minister Fares Boueiz held in Damascus with Syrian Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam and Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa. Lebanese governmental sources said these Syrian - Lebanese talks aim at coordinating efforts.
The sources added that next Tuesday, Hariri will visit Cairo at Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's invitation, to discuss developments in the region. The sources continued, Hariri's two-day visit does not fall in the course of visits to explain the Lebanese position concerning the Israeli proposals.
Lebanese governmental sources said the Lattakia summit between President Hrawi and President al-Assad generated the main outlines of political stability so as to define relations between Lebanese institutions and officials and not to raise more inter-Lebanese disputes.
