Yemen hopes Egypt can help with economic advice
Egypt-Yemen, Economics, 4/15/1998
The manager of the Egypt Central Bank, Ismael Hassan, will arrive in Sanaa on Friday for a three-day official visit.
The manager of the Yemeni Central Bank, Ahmed Abdel-Rahman, said that this visit comes within a previous invitation directed to the Egyptian official to exchange views and experiences in the fields of financial and economic reform in the two countries.
He added that Hassan would deliver a paper to the Yemeni second economic conference, whose activities will begin on April 18. This paper includes a review of Egyptian experience in instituting economic reform and the results the effort has yielded.
The talks will also tackle the steps for establishing an Egyptian joint bank located in Sanaa.
The high committee headed by the Egyptian prime minister and his Yemeni counterpart signed this project during last December.
Yemen is currently experiencing economic difficulties and is attempting to implement reform programs to improve the economy amidst a lack of political consensus on a solution.
