Lebanese and Iraqi officials meet on cooperation

Chairman of the Lebanese Chambers of Industry Jacques Sarraf met today in Baghdad with Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Adnan Abdul Meguid.

The two sides stressed the need to set up constructive relations between Iraqi and Lebanese industrialists for the interests of the two countries.

Sarraf brought the Iraqi minister an invitation from his Lebanese counterpart to visit Lebanon, but no date was fixed for the visit.

Two days earlier, Sarraf arrived in Baghdad leading an industrial delegation in a visit aimed at contracting with Iraqi companies concerned to buy Lebanese products to Iraq in accordance with the oil-for-food accord.

Meanwhile, Iraqi dailies said today that the Lebanese industrial promotion company will organize in collaboration with the Lebanese Agronomists Association in September a Lebanese economic week in Baghdad. The event is expected to feature the largest Lebanese economic exhibition outside Lebanon.
