Israeli jets raid Lweiseh, al-Tuffah district
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 4/13/1998
Israeli warplanes on Sunday continued to fly over al-Nabatieh and al-Tuffah areas carrying out mock provocative raids. Lebanese army and national resistance anti-aircraft fire intercepted the raiding planes, the sources added.
Earlier in the day, six raids were carried out by Israeli military jets, targeting the hills of al-Tuffah district Sujud mountain and the surroundings of Lweiseh town and Tasse spring. Heavy material losses were inflicted upon the targeted areas.
Meanwhile, a Lebanese national resistance on Sunday attacked a Lahd's militia position in the occupied part of south Lebanon with machine-guns and rockets. In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said the attack resulted in hitting a semi-armored vehicle used by the militia, scoring several hits among elements of the patrol.
Israeli warplanes also raided on Sunday the deserted al-Huseineyeh Sujud town in al-Tuffah district, using air-to-surface missiles.
News reports from south Lebanon said the Israeli jets were attacked by anti-aircraft missiles from the Lebanese army and national resistance.
However, an Israeli military spokesman acknowledged the raid against Sujud but gave no details.
